… but a giant leap for Arcsecond!

After a month of intense coding to prepare a full-featured version of Arcsecond to run locally, adding the control of equipments through Alpaca APIs, we went to the Greenhill Observatory to test it in real (daytime) conditions.

I am so happy to finally move a lot closer to something I dreamed since a long time: propose a full-featured, complete, consistent and reliable platform for astronomers and observatories. Enough of crazy scripting and DIY shaky half-baked solutions.

We need observatories to run smoothly, continuously and reliably everywhere. For the sake of science, of astronomer’s sleep, for funding agencies and for the public. We want more science everywhere, and at all scales, not only the top-notch best-in-class ones (Keck, VLT etc…).

There’s still a lot to develop. But I am very proud of what I could achieve in just one month by focusing 100% of my time on it.

Stay tuned! And clear skies to all.

P.S. Don’t miss our new quick “Feature Highlight” post on Time Locking.

  1. First thought when seeing you fly above the telescope is: “WHAT? They let you do that???” 🙂

Well done Cédric. What a milestone!
