I’m just returned from a month-and-a-half stay in Canada & USA to develop Arcsecond, and collect feedback and ideas. Here are some pictures and details of my trip.
First stop: Montréal & Planétarium
The Planétarium of Montréal has a great project of installing an observatory of their own, where they are located, right inside Montréal’s city (east from Montreal downtown). It’s a long-term project, with great extensions to Arcsecond I cannot unveil for now (but you will hear about it!)
Here are some pictures of my arrival to the Planétarium, and the telescope they lent me for a few weeks.

The key progress I made with this telescope is connecting Arcsecont to an ASAIR mount and camera, and controlling the equipment through an INDIGO server!
Along the way, I found a tiny bug inside Indigo codebase, and I was happy to contribute with a Pull Request.
Many thanks to Olivier Hernandez, Planétarium’s director for his support and financial commitment to the project!
Second Stop: Salt Lake City & Frisco Peak
Being in Montréal, it was the occasion to pay a short one-week visit to the people of Salt Lake City, who operate a 32-inches telescope at the Willard L. Eccles Observatory (WEO), in Frisco Peak, south of the Utah state. Before that, I had the occasion to visit the small observatory at the Utah University too (dedicated to outreach and teaching activities).
Many thanks to Tanmoy L. and Paul R. for their warm welcome, the trip to WEO and their financial commitment to Arcsecond development too!
Some pictures of Salt Lake City and the telescopes in Utah’s U.

Then, we travelled south to Milford, to the Willard L. Eccles Observatory (WEO), in the Frisco Peak. The landscapes were just stunning.

Here is the fourth installation of Arcsecond.local, in Frisco Peak:

There was a lot of wind during the second day of our stay in the Willard L. Eccles Observatory (WEO), but I managed to make a quick drone flight.
Bonus: Playing ‘Breaking Bad’ last season…
The dinner in Milford made me thinking of the first minutes of the last season of Breaking Bad!… 😂
