Following our efforts to install Arcsecond.local (a full version of Arcsecond, running locally) in many more places, I’ve just paid a small visit to an old friend and former CNRS astrophysicist, still very much active in microlensing and other transient phenomena. Moreover, he is one of the most natural and fast bug-finder I’ve ever seen in activity…

The main new development in this installation was our first implementation of plate solving also known as astrometric solving.

Here are some quick photos of Arcsecond.local running from the beautiful south-west of France, after our active installation in Tasmania. We weren’t lucky with weather, unfortunately. The installation was ready by the time when clouds appeared again… But it taught us a lot of things on the installation process.

Next stop: Montréal (Canada) in September!
